Biowaste treatment, biomethane and nutrient recycling
Mäntsälän Biovoima is a biogas plant in Mäntsälä, wholly owned by Auris Energy. We process biodegradable side streams to produce biomethane and recycled fertilisers.
We turn biowaste and biomass from wastewater treatment plants into renewable energy and return nutrients to productive use.
The expansion completed in 2025 doubled biogas production capacity and significantly increased treatment capacity.
Biomethane production
We process biodegradable materials into biogas, which we upgrade to biomethane. Biomethane replaces fossil fuels in industry, energy production and transport. It increases energy self-sufficiency and supports the circular economy.
Our plant’s biogas production capacity is around 33 GWh per year. All the biogas we produce enters the local gas distribution network and passes through our compressor station into the national transmission network and on to European markets.
Services for feedstock suppliers: biowaste reception and treatment
We receive biowaste and side streams from the food industry, biowaste from retail and logistics, biodegradable industrial materials and biomass from wastewater treatment plants.
We offer a reliable and responsible solution for biowaste treatment. We are easy to reach, in a central logistics location right beside Helsingintie.

Recycled fertilisers for agriculture: returning nutrients to circulation
The biogas process produces nutrient-rich recycled fertilisers that support sustainable agriculture. Our plant produces around 65,000 tonnes each year.
Our products return nutrients to the soil and reduce dependence on virgin raw materials for fertilisers.
Plant capacity and expansion
The expansion of Mäntsälän Biovoima was completed in late 2025. The expansion:
- Increased biogenic waste treatment capacity from 20,000 tonnes to around 43,000 tonnes per year
- Doubled biogas production capacity to around 33 GWh per year
- Enabled the treatment of new feedstocks, such as biomass from wastewater treatment plants
- Significantly increased recycled fertiliser production

We have corrected the issues identified and adjusted the process to ensure normal operation.
