Säkylä biogas plant project progresses: Auris and Biolan agree on feedstock cooperation

Biolan Group and Auris Energy are starting a partnership in which Biolan will supply feedstock to the biogas plant being built in Säkylä as soon as it starts operating. Auris, in turn, will supply the plant’s processed output for use by Biolan Group.

The partnership strengthens the regional circular economy and supports sustainable cultivation, as the plant’s end products return to crop production as fertilisers, growing media and soil improvers.

Binding feedstock agreements already cover 80 GWh

Auris has so far signed binding feedstock agreements equivalent to approximately 80 GWh for the plant being built in Säkylä. Poultry manure is a key feedstock in the cooperation between Auris and Biolan.

Auris Energy’s Säkylä biogas plant will produce approximately 130 gigawatt-hours of renewable biogas and around 21,000 tonnes of biogenic carbon dioxide annually from local industrial and agricultural side streams. The plant will also produce recycled fertilisers, returning nutrients to use in the region’s fields.

The partnership between Biolan and Auris offers farms and local industry a cost-effective solution for treating organic side streams.

Auris Energy provides energy and fuel as services for industry and properties. Auris sells and distributes natural gas and biogas, produces biogas and provides energy services based on electrification. Auris helps customers improve energy efficiency and turn emissions reductions into measurable business benefits.

Biolan Group develops, manufactures and markets products and services for home gardens, crop production and ecological living. Nutrient recycling, renewable raw materials and solutions that support sustainability are at the heart of Biolan Group’s operations.
