Helen’s natural gas distribution and sales business transferred to Suomen Kaasuenergia in a transaction completed on 31 December 2019.
Suomen Kaasuenergia is Finland’s largest gas distribution company. Its strategy is to focus on natural gas and biogas distribution and sales in the natural gas market that opened in January. The company can offer customers a wide range of products at competitive prices.
“Natural gas is an important fuel for Helen’s energy production, but reselling it to a limited number of industrial users and maintaining a relatively small distribution network are not strategic core businesses for Helen,” Helen Director Marko Riipinen says.
According to Riipinen, the opening of the natural gas market made it a natural step to sell these operations to a company specialising in that market.
“The opening of the gas market creates new opportunities for both customers and gas industry operators,” Suomen Kaasuenergia CEO Mika Paloranta says.
Customer service and billing for Helen’s gas customers transferred to Suomen Kaasuenergia on 1 January 2020. The transfer of contracts was agreed with all customers in advance.
