Our customers gained access to more leading energy expertise in mid-August when Henrik Palmén joined AER as Project Manager. Henrik holds a Master’s degree in engineering and has more than two decades of experience in delivering energy projects.
Henrik has worked both in selling energy services and supplying energy technology. His expertise strengthens our professional project management and our ability to ensure customers achieve their goals.
“Every customer and the service they need are unique. This variety makes energy project work diverse and interesting”, says Palmén.
Designing energy solutions requires creativity and new ideas
Before joining AER, Henrik spent several years at Nevel Oy as the director responsible for project delivery and concept development.
“In recent years, I have worked particularly on steam and hot-water projects, using fuels ranging from gas to solid wood fuels, side streams, agricultural biomass and peat.”
“Customers are increasingly choosing electric solutions for heat production. At industrial scale, these are mainly heat pumps and electric boilers.”
According to Henrik, designing energy solutions is often a complex puzzle in which new and even unexpected ideas are welcome and necessary.
“Industrial solutions need to account for integration with the customer’s production processes and often for incorporating different waste streams and the customer’s final product into the energy solution. These connections can easily become complex, requiring fresh thinking and a broad view of different approaches.”
Palmén sees AER’s technology independence as a competitive advantage
Low-temperature heating is already becoming electrified rapidly, while clean gases and hydrogen will remain interesting for high-temperature applications. The energy sector also has many constantly changing factors, including electricity and energy taxes, emissions trading charges and investment subsidies.
“These particularly affect the choice of fuels and technology. Naturally, everyone responsible for investments would like price certainty, but unfortunately no one can make binding promises or guarantees about energy prices for many years ahead.”
“That is why AER’s independence from any single technology or fuel is so well suited to the present and the future.”
Henrik brings AER considerable additional expertise in weighing up the strengths and weaknesses of different technologies. Whether a feature of an energy production method is an advantage or a disadvantage depends largely on the application.
“Future energy solutions will increasingly be tailored. There has never been a one-size-fits-all solution, but this will become even more important.”
