Auris Energy’s service opens gas network access for off-grid biogas producers

Auris Energy is planning a service giving biogas plants outside the gas network, known as off-grid plants, access to the national gas system. As part of the service, Auris plans to build a gas injection station to which gas can be delivered from plants in containers.

Both biogas demand and supply are growing in Finland, but producers and customers do not always connect in today’s market. Only a small proportion of Finland’s biogas plants are connected to the national gas network, along which the greatest customer potential is located.

“Our new service supports gas users’ progress towards carbon neutrality by providing better opportunities to procure renewable gas,” Auris Energy’s Director of Gas Businesses Anni Sarvaranta explains.

“It also supports biogas producers’ businesses by offering easy access to the national gas system and promotes efficient use of gas infrastructure and its transition to carbon neutrality.”

The service is intended to launch by summer 2024, with Mäntsälä proposed as the first injection point. It will be open to all gas market participants and developed with customers.

In the first phase, Auris will target biomethane producers and resellers. Later, the concept and service may be expanded to other renewable gases.
