Anni Sarvaranta
Group CEO, Auris Energy

I became Group CEO of Auris on 15 January 2024. Before that, I led Auris’s gas businesses and the development of the group’s strategy.
As CEO, my role is to guide the company into its next phase of growth and sustainability. One way we do this is by increasing the share of carbon-neutral energy in the group’s business. Our solutions include renewable gas, geothermal heat, electric boilers, heat pumps and a range of services that improve energy efficiency.
- Experience Over 15 years in the energy sector, including consulting, product management, strategy and business development, and leadership.
- Education MSc in Energy Technology, Aalto University.
Tell us about your background and expertise
I would describe myself as a developer. Every significant role I have held has involved some form of development or a need for change. I enjoy solving problems and breaking large, difficult challenges into smaller, manageable parts. Almost any problem can be broken down, and if you take it far enough, you can solve it through systematic work. But no one can bring about major change alone – it is important to get the team involved.
I quickly grasp the big picture, but I also get into the detail when needed. I find it fairly easy to move between the two, which apparently is not very typical. People often tend to be either detail-oriented or big-picture thinkers.
What would you like to tell us about yourself?
I am strongly guided by my values, both as a person and as a leader. My values include openness, fairness and curiosity, and I try to bring them into my leadership too. I am quite impatient. Sometimes that impatience spills over and becomes visible to others, but perhaps that is also part of being human.
In my free time, I spend time with my family. I also took up tennis as an adult. I try to get onto the court at least once a week.
What are customers interested in at the moment?
Natural gas is still the energy source our company and our customers use most. With the war in Ukraine, security of supply, gas availability, price trends and gas sourcing have recently been particularly prominent topics. Our customers are also increasingly interested in renewable gases such as biomethane. We actively develop our offering in response to their needs. Investing in biogas production is one example.
Our customers’ needs are at the heart of what we do, and we aim to be a reliable energy partner that provides attentive service. Alongside gas, our energy services cover a broad range of low-emission energy solutions, such as geothermal energy, heat pumps and energy-use optimisation. We see enormous potential to grow our energy services business.
What will become more important in the future? What should we keep in mind?
Responsible business practices will become even more important. This change will also be increasingly visible in our own offering and operations. It is important to understand that sustainability is a very broad subject: it covers more than the environment alone.
For example, alongside reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing the green transition, our stakeholders currently see occupational health and safety, asset integrity and critical incident management as some of the most important sustainability topics.
We listen carefully to our stakeholders and will place even greater emphasis on the topics that matter to them in our work.
