European gas exchange prices have continued to fall throughout this year from last year’s peaks. This year’s decline has been driven by factors including lower gas demand and high fill levels in Europe’s underground gas storage facilities.
An EU-wide additional storage obligation has been introduced to increase storage levels further and ensure sufficient gas in all circumstances.
All gas sellers were already required to store fuel equivalent to a certain proportion of their total sales in mandatory stocks for exceptional situations. This requirement has now increased through an additional storage obligation effective from 1 November 2023. The aim is to further strengthen natural gas security of supply.
Price lists updated
We have updated your gas product price lists, and the additional component will appear on your bill from 1 November 2023. Your new price lists are available here and from our customer service team on request.
The charge to our customers for the additional storage obligation is €0.35/MWh, excluding VAT.
