Two new network supervisors have joined Suomen Kaasuenergia and Auris Kaasunjakelu’s newly opened Lahti office: Mikko Paulus (pictured left) and Johan Moilanen.
Moilanen brings seven years of supervisory experience in the HVAC sector. An interesting role prompted his move into gas, helped by a qualification he had already gained. “I qualified as an operations supervisor in 2013, which also sparked my interest in this job,” he says.
Paulus already knows the gas industry, having previously worked as a specialist at Gasum. “Gas and the energy sector in general interest me. I see a major future role for biogas and LNG in particular,” he says. “Gas is a very good form of energy with excellent efficiency,” Moilanen adds.
The title network supervisor describes the job well. It involves overseeing Suomen Kaasuenergia and Auris Kaasunjakelu’s distribution network in Lahti and the surrounding area: around 175 kilometres of underground pipelines. Following last year’s acquisition responsibility for the network transferred from Lahti Energia to Suomen Kaasuenergia and Auris Kaasunjakelu at the beginning of March.
“Excavation work is our main monitoring priority. We make sure it does not cause damage,” Paulus explains, reminding readers that permission to work must be obtained from the pipeline owner. “A permit must be requested if excavation takes place at least five metres from a gas pipeline. You can request pipeline marking at kaivuulupa.fi.” Network supervisors also read meters and carry out maintenance.
Because network supervisors work out in the field, the Lahti office does not provide a customer service desk. Customer service remains available by phone Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm on 020 690 027, or by email at asiakaspalvelu (at) suomenkaasuenergia.fi. Report distribution disruptions on 0800 177 955.
