Suomen Kaasuenergia acquires Vantaan Energia’s gas and steam business

Vantaan Energia Oy has sold its entire natural gas and steam business to Suomen Kaasuenergia.

Suomen Kaasuenergia Oy will handle natural gas sales in Vantaa, Auris Kaasunjakelu Oy will be responsible for gas transmission, and Auris Energiaratkaisut Oy will take over steam deliveries to business customers. The natural gas supplier changes on 1 August 2019. Customers do not need to take any action.

“We firmly believe that, in the future market situation, Suomen Kaasuenergia will be able to offer our customers the best service and competitive prices,” explains Vantaan Energia CEO Jukka Toivonen. “Suomen Kaasuenergia is growing, and this acquisition will enable us to respond even better to the challenges of the opening market and our customers’ needs,” says Suomen Kaasuenergia CEO Mika Paloranta.

The Natural Gas Market Act is changing, and gas sales will open to competition on 1 January 2020. This would have required Vantaan Energia to invest heavily in developing its natural gas business. In the new competitive environment, large operators focused on natural gas can provide services more efficiently and at lower cost. Suomen Kaasuenergia is Finland’s largest operator in the sector and supplies gas in 19 locations in southern Finland.
