Suomen Kaasuenergia’s first gas filling station will open in Tuusula’s Rykmentinpuisto in late October or early November. Located next to the Housing Fair area, it will also be Tuusula’s first gas filling station.
The station at Puistometsäntie 1 will serve passenger cars and delivery vehicles, offering both biogas (CBG) and natural gas (CNG).
The number of gas vehicles in Finland has grown significantly in recent years. At the beginning of this year, there were already around 10,000 gas vehicles on Finnish roads, compared with only a couple of thousand a few years earlier.
“Domestic, completely emission-free biogas supports the transition towards carbon-free transport. Biogas is becoming increasingly important as one of the transport solutions of the future,” says Maria Huusko, who is responsible for Suomen Kaasuenergia’s gas refuelling operations.
Biogas is a fully renewable form of energy, as it can be produced from almost any organic feedstock. It is also an integral part of the circular economy: the nutrient residue from its production is used as fertiliser on fields, reducing the use of industrial fertilisers.
Suomen Kaasuenergia’s filling station is open to everyone and accepts the most common debit and credit cards.
The completed refuelling canopy and dispenser will feature birds from a work created for Suomen Kaasuenergia by graffiti artist Jouni “Psyke” Väänänen, who comes from Central Uusimaa.
Viafin GAS Oy was the main contractor for the gas filling station.
Suomen Kaasuenergia’s filling station is part of Neste Express Tuusula Rykmentinpuisto, where construction and product choices have been designed to minimise climate impact. Overall, the station produces approximately 30% fewer emissions than a conventionally built filling station selling an average range of fuels.
