Fortum has sold its Finnish natural gas business to Suomen Kaasuenergia. Natural gas distribution and sales operations transfer to Suomen Kaasuenergia on 1 April.
The acquired business serves around 150 customers in Espoo, Kirkkonummi, Tuusula and Järvenpää. Its revenue in 2018 was approximately €1 million. The transaction supports both companies’ long-term objectives and fits their strategies well.
The sale has no immediate effect on Fortum’s natural gas customers. The new operator will be responsible for deliveries and related obligations under the existing agreements.
Customer service and billing transfer to Suomen Kaasuenergia from 1 April. Billing will move automatically to the new owner without any action by customers.

Within the Suomen Kaasuenergia Group, Auris Kaasunjakelu Oy handles natural gas distribution and Suomen Kaasuenergia Oy handles sales. Auris Kaasunjakelu Oy is acquiring Fortum’s distribution business, while Suomen Kaasuenergia Oy is acquiring its gas sales business.
