Auris Energy’s EUR 50 million biogas project in Säkylä is progressing as planned. Feedstock procurement is well advanced, with more than 75% of the required raw materials already secured through letters of intent.
Construction of Säkylän Biovoima will begin next year, with production starting in 2028. Once completed, Säkylän Biovoima will produce approximately 130 GWh of renewable biogas annually. It will also produce biofertiliser suitable for organic farming, which will return to the region’s fields.
“The strong progress in feedstock procurement demonstrates confidence in the project. We are very pleased with the cooperation with local industry and agriculture,” Auris’s Biogas Business Manager Jani Hautaluoma says.
Local farms are important to the project
Säkylän Biovoima’s feedstocks are clean and local, and agriculture plays a central role in the plant’s operations. The plant will use approximately 300,000 tonnes of plastic-free, non-animal side streams from local industry and organic by-products from agriculture. It will not process slaughterhouse by-products.
Auris Energy’s project development partner Gas1 Oy has already begun contacting local livestock farms and will continue discussions with agricultural businesses and other potential feedstock suppliers over the coming weeks.
Cooperation with agriculture is progressing – get involved
During the rest of the year, Auris will organise several events for agricultural entrepreneurs in the Säkylä area about the forthcoming project and the opportunities it offers.
The first event will take place at Euran Pirtti in Eura on 24 November from 14:30. The second will be held at Ravintola Vanha WPK in Huittinen on 25 November from 14:30.
All agricultural operators interested in feedstock cooperation are warmly welcome to attend the events or contact our project team directly. Further information and contact details are available on the project page: www.aurisenergia.fi/sakyla.
