DS Smith develops and supplies packaging solutions for a wide range of uses. Its Nummela factory was previously heated with heavy fuel oil.
The heating system was due for an upgrade, and DS Smith also wanted to reduce its heating costs.
“AER dismantled and disposed of the customer’s old oil boiler,” Sales Manager Timo Jokila explains.
“We installed a new condensing gas boiler and gas connection, and converted the customer’s existing steam boiler to run on gas.”

“The site was connected to AER’s remote monitoring system, and AER took over responsibility for monitoring and ensuring the system works.”
Switching fuel reduced heating emissions while significantly improving energy efficiency.
“The agreement also brought the convenience the customer wanted: AER now takes full responsibility for the factory’s energy production and supplies heating as a service.”
