Finnish Food Factory is an experienced contract manufacturer in the food industry. It produces protein drinks, dessert sauces, creams and other beverages for its customers. The company is increasing production and expanding its Kouvola factory for spring 2023. Auris has been selected to produce all the energy the factory needs.
Auris will provide the steam, heating and cooling required by Finnish Food Factory’s expanded facility. Under the energy-as-a-service model, the customer receives an agreed amount of energy at a price agreed in advance. Auris is responsible for all the investments needed for energy production, as well as operation and maintenance of the entire system.
An electric boiler produces steam, while waste energy is recovered
Finnish Food Factory offsets all carbon dioxide emissions from its operations, making it a carbon-neutral company. Environmental goals are central to its operations in other ways too: for example, all its product packaging is recyclable, right down to the caps.
“Reducing emissions from our customers’ energy production is an important part of Auris’s work, so a partnership with Finnish Food Factory is a very natural fit for us,” Auris Energiaratkaisut Sales Manager Jarkko Kuningas says.
Auris will produce the steam needed for manufacturing at Finnish Food Factory’s expanded facility with a 3 MW electric boiler. Excess heat from factory cooling will be recovered and directed to the heat pump providing space heating, preventing energy waste. Based on electrification and energy recovery, the solution ensures sustainable energy production well into the future.
“Cooperation with Auris got off to a good start from our very first meeting, and their model flexibly accommodates the growing energy needs resulting from the factory expansion,” Finnish Food Factory CEO Janne Hirvonen says.
