Auris Energia and Finnish green hydrogen and e-methane producer P2X Solutions have agreed to inject e-methane into Auris’s gas network. E-methane produced by P2X Solutions in Harjavalta will reach European markets through the Auris network.
Auris has built a renewable-gas injection point in Mäntsälä, enabling producers outside the gas grid to supply gas to the Finnish and European markets. Auris opened the injection point for biomethane in spring 2025, and the service is now expanding to industrial-scale e-methane.
E-methane, or synthetic methane, is made by combining hydrogen produced with renewable electricity and carbon dioxide. Deliveries of P2X Solutions’ e-methane through the Mäntsälä injection point will begin in early October 2026.
Auris Energia’s infrastructure opens a market for a new export product
Auris Energia’s network is connected to the gas network of transmission system operator Gasgrid Finland and, through the Balticconnector pipeline linking Estonia and Finland, to the wider European gas network.
“Demand for synthetic methane is growing rapidly in Europe, led by Germany, where it plays a significant role in reducing emissions from heavy transport, among other uses,” says Herkko Plit, founder and CEO of P2X Solutions.
“Methane distribution and the related infrastructure are a critical part of the hydrogen economy’s value chain, so we are very pleased with the agreement with Auris Energia,” Plit continues.
Auris plans to expand its gas-grid injection service to other locations according to customer demand.
“The agreement with P2X Solutions is a concrete example of how the effects of an infrastructure investment can extend far beyond the investment itself. It enables new production investments and brings clean energy to the Finnish and European markets,” says Auris Energia’s Chief Growth Officer Ville Karttunen.
