Auris Energia’s gas trading and portfolio management have received ISCC certification. Our biogas production plant in Mäntsälä has also been certified under ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification). ISCC is an internationally recognised system that verifies the sustainability of renewable energy and the reliable accounting of emissions.
The certification now covers Auris’s entire biogas value chain, from raw materials to production and trading. It further improves the traceability and transparency of the renewable biogas we produce. It also gives biogas produced in Mäntsälä access to European markets and creates more options for selling different biogas batches to customers.
“Biogas markets are growing strongly in Europe,” says Pekka Karinen, who is responsible for Auris Energia’s gas sales business.
“New countries are continually joining the electronic system for transferring biogas guarantees of origin between countries, the AIB Hub. This makes sourcing biogas from Europe considerably more flexible and reliable than under the previous EX-domain procedure. For our gas sales business, ISCC certification enables safe and flexible trading throughout the EU.”
Gas from the expanded Mäntsälän Biovoima plant is also certified
The expansion of Auris Energia’s biogas production plant in Mäntsälä, completed in early 2026, doubled Auris’s biogas production. The plant’s production capacity is now slightly over 30 GWh per year.
“The biogas produced at the plant belongs to the highest quality category (Annex 9A of the Renewable Energy Directive), meeting the strictest sustainability and quality criteria,” says Auris Energia’s Chief Growth Officer Ville Karttunen. “We are also preparing to use manure as a feedstock. With manure, we may be able to bring the carbon intensity (CI) score of our biogas below zero.”
