The first molecules of e-methane produced by P2X Solutions in Harjavalta were injected into Auris Energy’s gas grid today. This marks the start of a new Finnish export product’s journey to customers in Europe.
P2X Solutions delivers the e-methane it produces in Harjavalta in containers to Auris’s grid injection point in Mäntsälä, where Auris injects it into the gas grid. The e-methane is delivered to Germany as fuel for heavy-duty transport. This is the first time that an e-fuel produced in Finland has been supplied elsewhere in Europe.
Auris’s gas grid connects production with markets
Auris built a grid injection point in Mäntsälä that also allows gas from production plants outside the grid to be injected into it. Auris opened its grid injection service for biomethane in 2025, and the same infrastructure is now serving e-methane deliveries for the first time.
“For Finnish producers of clean gases, access to European markets is essential,” says Ville Karttunen, Chief Growth Officer at Auris Energy.
“However, Finland’s gas grid does not reach the regions best suited to gas production. That is why we have started building a virtual gas grid based on container logistics. Effective infrastructure opens up markets.”
There is demand for Finnish e-methane in Europe
P2X Solutions’ production plant in Harjavalta produces e-methane from hydrogen made using renewable electricity and carbon dioxide. E-methane is synthetic methane that is molecularly identical to the natural gas and biogas already flowing through the gas grid. It can be used in the same equipment as natural gas and biomethane.
“We can now see in concrete terms that there is demand in Europe for exports from Finland’s hydrogen economy. The deliveries that have now begun demonstrate that synthetic fuels are moving from plans to implementation,” says Herkko Plit, CEO of P2X Solutions.
