Porvoon Energia has agreed to sell its natural gas business to Suomen Kaasuenergia. The natural gas distribution and sales businesses will transfer to Suomen Kaasuenergia Oy and Auris Kaasunjakelu Oy on 1 November 2018. Auris will handle natural gas distribution and Suomen Kaasuenergia natural gas sales.
Porvoon Energia will continue using natural gas in its production.
“Auris Kaasunjakelu and Suomen Kaasuenergia are established Finnish operators in the natural gas sector. We believe in working with them to procure natural gas for Porvoon Energia’s needs,” says Porvoon Energia CEO Patrick Wackström.
“The acquisition and associated supply agreement are an integral part of implementing Suomen Kaasuenergia’s strategy. We focus on the gas business in Finland’s liberalising gas market. Cooperation with Porvoon Energia is an important sign of confidence in our operations,” says Suomen Kaasuenergia CEO Mika Paloranta.
The sale of the natural gas business will have no immediate impact on Porvoo’s natural gas customers. The new operator will be responsible for deliveries and related obligations under existing contracts.
Porvoon Energia will continue handling customer service and billing until the end of the year. Billing will then transfer automatically to the new owner without customers needing to take any action. Changes to contact details will be announced later. Contact details for disruptions, including the district heating and natural gas fault line 040 8338694, will remain unchanged until 31 December 2018. The transaction will have no impact on Porvoon Energia’s personnel.
