A colder-than-forecast winter raised gas exchange prices at the turn of the year

At Auris Energiaratkaisut, we procure the natural gas and biogas used in our services from Suomen Kaasuenergia Oy, which is part of the same Group.

We buy gas under two pricing models: directly linked to Gaspool Front Month exchange prices, and through Suomen Kaasuenergia’s own SK index pricing model.

During the autumn, gas markets showed some nervousness, with prices rising and falling by EUR 1–2/MWh over periods of a few days. In December, a colder-than-forecast winter and increased Asian demand for LNG pushed gas exchange prices higher.

Suomen Kaasuenergia’s website has published a comprehensive review of recent market developments, price forecasts for the coming months and the SK index in practice.
