District heating’s role is changing as heating becomes electrified

Heating is becoming electrified rapidly, particularly through heat pumps as their popularity grows. As distributed heat production expands alongside large centralised heat sources, the role of district heating is also changing.

When choosing a heating solution, one question is whether district heating should form part of a system using several heat sources or be replaced altogether.
