Mäntsälän Biovoima Oy (MBV), majority-owned by Auris Energy, has received a building permit for its expansion investment. The expansion will double MBV’s biogas production and create separate production lines for field fertiliser meeting organic criteria and for other fertilisers.
Increased production will also support the planned capture of carbon dioxide of biological origin at the plant and its processing into an industrial raw material.

Construction will have no significant environmental impact
With the building permit granted, the plant expansion moves to its next phase and construction can begin. The work will not cause significant harm to the environment or neighbouring properties.
MBV will continue operating during construction
Mäntsälän Biovoima’s customers will not face lengthy interruptions: plant operations and biowaste reception will continue throughout the expansion project. Construction arrangements may occasionally cause congestion at biowaste reception, but we will inform customers separately. Biogas production and biowaste processing will continue throughout construction.
Expansion supported by the Ministry of the Environment will be completed by the end of 2025
The expansion investment is scheduled for completion in December 2025. The Ministry of the Environment has supported the project through its RAKI nutrient recycling programme.
