The environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure for our planned biogas plant in Säkylä and its associated biogas pipeline began on 19 March 2026.
The EIA procedure assesses the project’s environmental impacts and examines alternatives for the plant’s location and for transporting the biogas produced. For large industrial projects, it is normal to examine several implementation options at the EIA stage so that the impacts can be assessed comprehensively before final decisions are made.
The assessment considers, among other things, an alternative location for the plant and different ways of transporting biogas from production to customers. However, the previously announced pipeline remains the primary option for biogas transport.
The EIA programme is available on the authority’s website from 19 March to 20 April 2026, during which time comments can be submitted.
