Circular economy network
Circular economy network
Auris is developing renewable gas production as a network that brings together biogas plants, side streams, biogenic carbon dioxide and gas distribution infrastructure.
Renewable production
Turning side streams into energy and new raw materials
The circular economy network aims to connect production, raw material flows and customer energy needs so that renewable gas, fertilisers and biogenic carbon dioxide can be used efficiently.
The idea behind the network
Industrial circular economy clusters develop around biogas production in the area. Side streams from food production, agriculture and municipalities can be used to produce biogas, which returns to industry and customers as renewable energy.
Using side streams reduces the need for fossil fuels while creating opportunities to make more efficient use of nutrients, fertilisers and biogenic carbon dioxide.
New partnerships
The circular economy network is built on partnerships. In the Säkylä project, for example, Biolan supplies feedstocks to the biogas plant, and the treated end product can be returned to productive use.
Auris is also exploring opportunities to combine biogas production with green hydrogen and synthetic methane production. This would allow the biogenic carbon dioxide generated alongside the gas to be used as a new industrial raw material.
